A Beginning

I've decided to invite you all (at least those who find this blog) to spend time with me in my studio. I warn you, it's pretty messy, and sometimes a bit cold. But you might be interested, particularly if you're an artist at any level, in watching me stumble and bumble my way toward a finished painting. Or toward complete disaster, whichever comes first.

I warn you, this will be a slow process. First, because I haven't figured out exactly how to present this, and secondly because a tend to be a very, very slow painter.

My concept at this point is to post blogs at various stages of a painting's development. Along the way, I'll comment on compositional, color, and other decisions, and why I made them. Also you'll see lots of mistakes and how I have tried to fix them.

While you're waiting for this process to begin, I'll toss in images three of my recent works.

Working on Thacher, oil 20" x 30"

Vineyard Victorian, oil 16" x 20"

Nubble Point Light, oil 18" x 24"
